Gritty City Book Talk

In-Person

Who is deserving of space in our memories? Join author Nigel Webber to think critically about those we remember collectively as a society. In Gritty City: An Oral History of Winnipeg Hip-Hop Music 1980-2005, Webber delivers a thought-provoking, insightful, and wide ranging conversation. Centering on local hip-hop history, the book also touches on topics from the Akira Kurosawa film Rashomon and blues singer Robert Johnson to the significance of class divisions in Winnipeg.

Nigel Webber has been a television writer and for four years wrote for Stylus magazine, covering hip-hop with a focus on the local scene. Gritty City is Nigel's first book.
