From a Forgotten Land to the Promised Land
Author Lisa Cooper will discuss her book A Forgotten Land: Growing up in the Jewish Pale, telling the story of her grandmother's extraordinary life in the shtetl of Pavoloch near Kiev. In the early 20th century, she lived through pogroms, the Russian Revolution, civil war and the famine that followed, eventually escaping and settling in Winnipeg in 1924.
