The 1919 Winnipeg General Strike Tour

Nolan Reilly's popular Winnipeg General Strike Tour comes to the library with an introduction to the key events and players of the most prominent general strike in Canada's history. Nolan Reilly (Senior Scholar, University of Winnipeg) is co-author of the original 1919: Winnipeg General Strike Tour. Together with Sharon Reilly, retired museum curator, they have created a new 100th Anniversary booklet edition, coming this April. Sharon Reilly is a public historian living in Winnipeg.

Programs and events at Winnipeg Public Library are always free.

Public Program Registration Guidelines

  • An email address is required to register for all programs. If you do not have an email address, register by calling or visiting any Library branch.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same name will be cancelled.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of program attendees.
  • Family programs including Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Family Story Time, and 3-5 with a caregiver programs are an opportunity for caregivers to participate together with their child in the program.
  • School age programs are for children ages 6-8, 6-12, or 9-12. Children attend on their own unless otherwise indicated. Teen programs are for Grades 7-12.
  • Programs with children ages 11 and younger require a caregiver to remain in the library during the program. In the absence of a caregiver, the Library does not assume responsibility for a child.
  • Children are not supervised by library staff outside of the program space (e.g. washroom breaks or leaving the program early exit from the program).
  • Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Library programs. If the child requires the support of a caregiver to participate in a program, please speak with staff.
  • Online library programs use Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with Zoom before the program.
