Native Plant Identification

Join us for a native plant identification walk in the parks surrounding the St. Boniface Library! This walk will be led by Métis naturalist Jenna Vandal. She will share her knowledge on the identification of prairie plants, their edible and medicinal uses, as well as their Anishinaabe names. Jenna will lead the conversation in both English and French. Participants will meet in the lobby of St. Boniface Library. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and dress for the weather.

Rejoignez-nous pour une promenade d'identification des plantes indigènes dans les parcs autour de la bibliothèque de St. Boniface! La promenade sera guidée par Jenna Vandal, une naturaliste métisse. Elle partagera ses connaissances des plantes des prairies, les usages comestibles et médicinales de ces plantes, ainsi que leurs noms en Anishinaabe. Jenna dirigera la conversation en anglais et français. Les participant(e)s devront se retrouver dans le vestibule de la bibliothèque de St. Boniface. Public Program Registration Guidelines

  • An email address is required to register for all programs. If you do not have an email address, register by calling or visiting any Library branch.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same name will be cancelled.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of program attendees.
  • Family programs including Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Family Story Time, and 3-5 with a caregiver programs are an opportunity for caregivers to participate together with their child in the program.
  • School age programs are for children ages 6-8, 6-12, or 9-12. Children attend on their own unless otherwise indicated. Teen programs are for Grades 7-12.
  • Programs with children ages 11 and younger require a caregiver to remain in the library during the program. In the absence of a caregiver, the Library does not assume responsibility for a child.
  • Children are not supervised by library staff outside of the program space (e.g. washroom breaks or leaving the program early exit from the program).
  • Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Library programs. If the child requires the support of a caregiver to participate in a program, please speak with staff.
  • Online library programs use Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with Zoom before the program.
