THIN AIR Kids: Finding Closure, Graphic Novel Workshop

Join THIN AIR Kids and Winnipeg Public Library for a graphic novel workshop with writer Jen Storm and colourist Alice RL. How do ideas and concepts of closure contribute to the creation of a graphic novel? Find out in this hands-on workshop! For ages 13-17. Registration required. 90 minutes.   

Jen Storm is an Ojibwe writer and editor from Couchiching First Nation in Northwestern Ontario. She completed her first novel at age 14. Her most recent book is Little Moons, a graphic novel featuring the colour work of Alice RL. Alice RL is a non-binary Ojibwe illustrator and art teacher who draws inspiration from their life experiences and cultural teachings. Both Jen and Alice live in Winnipeg. 

This program is part of February's I Love to Read Month at Winnipeg Public Library.

Public Program Registration Guidelines

  • An email address is required to register for all programs. If you do not have an email address, register by calling or visiting any Library branch.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same name will be cancelled.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of program attendees.
  • Family programs including Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Family Story Time, and 3-5 with a caregiver programs are an opportunity for caregivers to participate together with their child in the program.
  • School age programs are for children ages 6-8, 6-12, or 9-12. Children attend on their own unless otherwise indicated. Teen programs are for ages 13-17.
  • Programs with children ages 11 and younger require a caregiver to remain in the library during the program. In the absence of a caregiver, the Library does not assume responsibility for a child.
  • Children are not supervised by library staff outside of the program space (e.g. washroom breaks or leaving the program early exit from the program).
  • Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Library programs. If the child requires the support of a caregiver to participate in a program, please speak with staff.
  • Online library programs use Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with Zoom before the program.
