Story Time with Marika

Join us for an author visit with Marika Schalla. Listen as she reads from her book Stella: Welcome to Your Doodem and then have the opportunity to ask questions. For children and their families. 45 minutes.  

Marika Schalla (Waabishkaanakwadikwe / White Cloud Woman) is an award-winning educator, writer, curriculum developer and mother of 2 from Winnipeg’s North End. 

Her and her family come from the Métis community of Saint Laurent. She has a passion for storytelling, land-based learning, and language revitalization. This is her debut picture book. 

This program is part of TD Summer Reading Club at Winnipeg Public Library.

Public Program Registration Guidelines

  • An email address is required to register for all programs. If you do not have an email address, register by calling or visiting any Library branch.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same name will be cancelled.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of program attendees.
  • Family programs including Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Family Story Time, and 3-5 with a caregiver programs are an opportunity for caregivers to participate together with their child in the program.
  • School age programs are for children ages 6-8, 6-12, or 9-12. Children attend on their own unless otherwise indicated. Teen programs are for ages 13-17.
  • Programs with children ages 11 and younger require a caregiver to remain in the library during the program. In the absence of a caregiver, the Library does not assume responsibility for a child.
  • Children are not supervised by library staff outside of the program space (e.g. washroom breaks or leaving the program early exit from the program).
  • Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Library programs. If the child requires the support of a caregiver to participate in a program, please speak with staff.
  • Online library programs use Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with Zoom before the program.
