Computers for Life computer classes - Level 2

Empower yourself through digital literacy! In this course of 8 classes you will learn about:  

  • advanced document management
  • cloud storage
  • email attachments & links
  • netiquette
  • online job applications & services
  • online form completion
  • video conferencing
  • online shopping & banking
  • scam protection

Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. (8 classes in total). Classes start Tuesday, July 8 and end on Thursday, July 31. Classes are at Millennium Library, in the Buchwald Room on the second floor.

A CLB of 5 and above is recommended for participants with English as an Additional Language.

Offered in partnership with Altered Minds Inc. Participants will be contacted by Altered Minds to confirm skill level and language requirements. If the program is full, please contact the partner here to be added to a waitlist for future sessions. 

Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion and are eligible for a free refurbished computer.

Participants are expected to attend all 8 classes. Please cancel your registration in advance if you are unable to attend. No-show registrants may be denied spots in future workshops.

Programs and events at Winnipeg Public Library are always free.

Registration is required. There are 4 seats available.

Public Program Registration Guidelines

  • An email address is required to register for all programs. If you do not have an email address, register by calling or visiting any Library branch.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same name will be cancelled.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of program attendees.
  • Family programs including Baby Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Family Story Time, and 3-5 with a caregiver programs are an opportunity for caregivers to participate together with their child in the program.
  • School age programs are for children ages 6-8, 6-12, or 9-12. Children attend on their own unless otherwise indicated. Teen programs are for ages 13-17.
  • Programs with children ages 11 and younger require a caregiver to remain in the library during the program. In the absence of a caregiver, the Library does not assume responsibility for a child.
  • Children are not supervised by library staff outside of the program space (e.g. washroom breaks or leaving the program early exit from the program).
  • Children of all abilities are welcome to attend Library programs. If the child requires the support of a caregiver to participate in a program, please speak with staff.
  • Online library programs use Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with Zoom before the program.
